We seek an experienced field based software engineer to join the team to cover our customer base throughout the South of England. This is as part of our national field service team.

Docman has numerous installations of the Docman product nationally and these are often upgraded or have new functionality added that requires an on-site presence to conduct this work. We also have many GP practices that merge or undergo local IT changes (new Servers, Domain changes etc.) that require the reconfiguration of our software.

This role will be responsible for the implementation and testing of software on site and will include installations, migrations, upgrades and configuration changes. Liaison and working with the Local IT teams is a regular occurrence so excellent MS Windows Server knowledge and good communications skills are a mandatory requirement for this role.

A typical day will include: –

  • Installation of new versions of Docman software and MySQL
  • Upgrading existing versions of software
  • Conducting pre and post change testing
  • Migrating software onto new servers / user workstations
  • Liaison with Practice Managers and GP Staff
  • Liaison with Local IT providers and engineers
  • Managing and update Site Visit Reports and Customer Acceptance Forms
  • Providing initial support post cutover to ensure a smooth customer transition

The type of person we are looking for

We seek a talented individual who is a confident and capable communicator who can explain and educate technical issues to non-technical people.

Given this is a field based role it is important that the individual is a self-starter able to work on their initiative to resolve local environmental and technical issues.

This individual must have a good all round experience within a Windows LAN client service infrastructure.

It is essential that the individual brings good analytical and reporting skills as these are required on a daily basis both from the customer and Docman.

  • A minimum of three years Software based Field Engineering experience
  • Expertise in data management/analysis and actions based upon this analysis
  • MySQL implementation and troubleshooting
  • Microsoft Windows Server setup and configuration
  • Proven experience of customer liaison and good customer relationships
  • Resourcefulness in resolving problems and excellent troubleshooting
  • Ability to work alone or as part of an Engineering team

It’s nice to have

  • Experience of working within a healthcare sector
  • MYSQL DBA experience
  • MCSE Qualification
  • Networking knowledge and experience
