PCTI, the leading provider of electronic document management and transfer solutions, today reveals EDT Hub is being used by 30 Trusts to send electronic documents to GP practices. In 2012, 70 Trusts are using an EDT Hub.

The 30 Trusts are delivering electronic documents using PCTI’s EDT Hub and have removed the significant costs associated with hard copy documents. Accredited to the CfH Interoperability Toolkit standards, the solution enables Trusts to quickly deploy the solution without integration headaches.  The solution is being used to send Discharge Summaries, Discharge Letters, Encounter Reports, Radiology Reports, Outpatient Clinic Letters and Out-of-Hours Reports to GP’s.

The solution enables GP practices to quickly process electronic documents and provides instant access to information. By sending documents securely using EDT Hub, documents can be tracked when they are received by the GP practice, ensuring patient safety.

Ric Thompson, Managing Director, PCTI, “We have found that many of the Trusts who have deployed EDT Hub have in fact recovered their licence costs in less than one month. Trusts can quickly and easily deploy our solution, benefitting from interoperability between systems and saving on integration costs.

“There are significant efficiency savings that tick all the boxes of QIPP, for example a Trust sending 500,000 documents per year can remove printing, paper and postage costs which could be up to £1 per document, totalling half a million pounds. With improved back office processes, resources can be redeployed to front line services whilst improving the patient experience. ”

“We find that large volumes of the 5,000 GP practices using Docman are actively encouraging organisations to send documents electronically. This enables the GP practice to remove the need to scan documents and removes manual inputting of data.”

EDT Hub, recently rebranded from EDT Server, will incorporate multi-directional messaging functionality which is scheduled to be showcased at PCTI’s EDT User Group 21st June, 2011. EDT Hub builds on the functionality of EDT Server and enables documents to be efficiently and securely moved around the NHS and Social Care.  EDT Hub enables the sending and receiving of electronic documents between any care organisation.
