PCTI is delighted to have been rewarded for excellence in three major national awards for the electronic document transfer project with NHS Eastern and Coastal Kent and NHS Medway.

The company was recently highly commended by HSJ in their Efficiency Awards for the electronic document transfer project across both Trusts. The solution provides demonstrable time savings and cost savings whilst delivering efficiencies for the QIPP (Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention) agenda. The QIPP efficiency guide is about using innovation to improve productivity and quality, whilst making up to £20billion of efficiency savings by 2014-15, which will be reinvested in frontline care.

PCTI have also been recognised in the E-Health Insider Awards 2011 in the Innovation in healthcare interoperability category and the Building Better Healthcare Awards 2011 for Best efficiency savings (winner tba).

Ric Thompson, Managing Director, PCTI “We are proud to have been recognised in three awards for our innovative EDT Hub solution, it is truly joining-up healthcare and connecting all. The solution demonstrates real interoperability and has had a significant impact on the Trusts, GP practices and patients that are using it.”

“The solution means that if a patient is discharged from the ward at 11.30, and the patient goes to see their GP at 3.00 pm the same day, that patients discharge summary correspondence will already be there. Not only are there the obvious significant cost savings, the patient experience is greatly improved.”

EDT Hub is a multi-directional document transfer platform currently being used by 41 NHS secondary care providers. It provides a secure, reliable and flexible solution for the electronic communication of documents between Secondary, Primary and Social Care providers. EDT Hub supports the delivery of Discharge Letters, Inpatient Correspondence, Outpatient letters, A&E Correspondence, Out of Hours, Encounter Reports and Clinical Correspondence directly into the GP workflow process. This saves hours per week in staff time and removes printing, postage, scanning and filing costs.
